Broxtowe Borough council will debate the proposed closure of Beeston Post Office at tonight’s council meeting (2nd March, 7pm). A petition will be formally presented to the council members as over 1,000 people have signed. Well done to local councillor, Janet Patrick (Beeston West), who has been leading on this.
Needless to say the Green Party is wholly opposed to this planned closure. It is essential for a town the size of Beeston to have a main, Crown post office, with all its facilities. We do not believe that replacing this with some kind of franchised service in one of the local supermarkets is at all adequate. Post offices are part of the community and provide a valuable service to everyone.
